Fabulous campsite if you heading into Western Province of Zambia and the Liuwa Plains National Park. (As a matter of fact, Ngonye now also has a campsite in Liuwa Plains, so if you heading that way, speak to them about that as well!).

Lovely green grass, electric power, braai/fire pits as well as communal ablutions with hot and cold showers and flush toilets. They also have an amazing deck which overlooks the Zambezi River.

Ngonye river camp is just a mere 120Km's from Katima Mulilo, on a lovely tar road.

Enjoy!

It’s a good stopover to enable an early border crossing.

Panda Rest Camp is an ideal stopover if you are travelling up to Chobe and beyond. It’s also located only 8Km's from the Pandamatenga Zimbabwe Border post and is ideal if you are planning to venture into the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.

Panda has lovely communal ablution facilities, a super swimming pool as well as a very nice restaurant. They also have chalets, if you not camping.

All in all, we had a very nice camp at Panda.

Senyati - a lovely campsite just south of Kasane, the gateway to the Chobe National Park.

Senyati has private ablutions, electric power, a small shop (not much available) as well as a lovely deck overlooking a waterhole where elephant come to drink the fresh water. They also have a nice underground bunker which takes you almost up to the elephant.

The private ablutions have hot water from a donkey boiler as well as flush toilets.

They also have a very nice swimming pool.

There are 2 entrances to Senyati, one for 4x4 only and the other for 2x4 high ground clearance vehicles. The 4x4 only is not recommended if you are towing.

Senyati is close to Kasane where there are shops, restaurants as well as filling/fuel stations etc.

 Nice experience !

Amazing location - where the Elephant come for the fresh water. It’s a remarkable experience.

When we camped there the maintenance was severely lacking and the campsite looked run down and not cared about. But I think that some maintenance has now being done and I see bomas and new braais at each campsite.

However, still a lovely place and having the elephant walking through the campsite is amazing!

The road in might require 4x4 if you are towing a big rig - but nothing serious.

No power at Elephant sands and the water in not potable. A lovely restaurant and a deck overlooking the waterhole – close encounters of the elephant kind !

Enjoy!

Visited: December 2022

Woodlands Stop Over is situated just north of Francistown, in Botswana. It's an ideal stop over if you are heading to more remote parts of the country.

The campsite is lovely and neat and clean. The ablutions are fantastic and there is a really nice swimming pool as well.

There is a short distance of gravel road to get to the camp and it can be a bit corrugated at times, but nothing excessive. Just take it easy and you will be fine.

Lovely place!

Sondela caravan park is OK. Some of the sites have no shade at all, so can get very hot in summer. There is a pool at the caravan park.

They do have private as well as communal ablution sites.

It’s a popular place, so can get very full and very noisy at times. Also, they very strictly enforce the you must leave by 10am on a Sunday very stringently, so no Sunday morning breakfast and by 10am the campsite is empty.

This is quiet a nice place for children and there is a lot to keep them busy.

Not one of our favourite places, but still nice.

Of cause the chalets are lovely!!

Zebra Bush Camp is situated within the Dinokeng Game Reserve. They have both fenced and unfenced campsites, all with private ablutions. We camped at the unfenced campsite. The ablutions are open to the skies, so it’s really a lovely outdoor feeling. Hot water of from a donkey boiler and they have a really nice fire/braai boma.

The site is huge and you have a nice wildlife feel to the camp.

There is no power so you need to bring your solar panel along.

Mazhou Campsite, in the Mapungubwe National Park is set far from the main camp. It has the sites in a circle around the ablution block.

There is electricity and each site has a braai, bin and water point. The ablutions are lovely and clean.

There is also electric power.

The camp does have a low electric fence around it and on one of the days we had an elephant looking over the fence.

There are monkeys, so just be aware of that.

Loved our time at Mazhou!

Its unfenced and has no electricity. Bring along your solar panel.

But the ablution does have solar lighting. In addition, it has a lovely shower (hot water from a gas geyser) as well as a flush toilet. There is also a super outdoor shower. The fire/braai pit is nice and big.

The sites are far apart, so you don’t see or hear your neighbours.

We really enjoyed our time at Jabula. Lovely!!

Visited: February 2022

Manyane Campsite is situated just outside the gate (but within the boundaries) of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. This is quiet a big resort with campsites as well as chalets.

The campsites are demarcated and have a braai, as well as electricity, a bin and a water point.

The resort has really deteriorated in recent years and the facilities are very old. Sometimes there is no hot water and over weekends there is sometimes noise from the nearby residential areas.

There is no fuel in the park, but there are a few fuel stations near the entrance.

In recent years the buildings at reception, including the shop, restaurant etc burned down and when we last visited, they were still not repaired.

But, all, in all, it's still a nice place to visit. The game viewing is good and you have a great chance of seeing the big 5.

We love visiting Pilanesberg !

Kaleo Guest farm - What was supposed to be a lovely camping experience started out really terrible. The private ablution site that we were allocated (and we were also the only campers there!!) was full of bird droppings, down the walls, on the counters and just everywhere. After I complained, they moved us to ab ablution where the birds could not gain access and it was clean and tidy. We were the only people camping there and it was December holidays!

In the end we had a lovely time and the private ablution that we were allocated was good, with a huge seating area and braai/fire place. They have electric power as well.

However, due to our first impressions, we won't be camping here again.

Not far from Laingsburg, in the Western Cape, you will find this lovely campsite. They only have a few sites and each one is "hidden" away in the bush right next to a small stream.

The campsites have their own ablution where hot water is provided by a donkey boiler. There is no electricity, so bring along your solar panel. We found this campsite to be quiet and restful.

They do have a restaurant and bar area, but it’s not near the campsites, so we did not experience and noise. There is also a swimming pool at the restaurant.

We really enjoyed this campsite!
