Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge - Campsite Review

Woodlands Stop Over is situated just north of Francistown, in Botswana. It's an ideal stop over if you are heading to more remote parts of the country.

The campsite is lovely and neat and clean. The ablutions are fantastic and there is a really nice swimming pool as well.

There is a short distance of gravel road to get to the camp and it can be a bit corrugated at times, but nothing excessive. Just take it easy and you will be fine.

Lovely place!

Sondela caravan park is OK. Some of the sites have no shade at all, so can get very hot in summer. There is a pool at the caravan park.

They do have private as well as communal ablution sites.

It’s a popular place, so can get very full and very noisy at times. Also, they very strictly enforce the you must leave by 10am on a Sunday very stringently, so no Sunday morning breakfast and by 10am the campsite is empty.

This is quiet a nice place for children and there is a lot to keep them busy.

Not one of our favourite places, but still nice.

Of cause the chalets are lovely!!

Zebra Bush Camp is situated within the Dinokeng Game Reserve. They have both fenced and unfenced campsites, all with private ablutions. We camped at the unfenced campsite. The ablutions are open to the skies, so it’s really a lovely outdoor feeling. Hot water of from a donkey boiler and they have a really nice fire/braai boma.

The site is huge and you have a nice wildlife feel to the camp.

There is no power so you need to bring your solar panel along.

Mazhou Campsite, in the Mapungubwe National Park is set far from the main camp. It has the sites in a circle around the ablution block.

There is electricity and each site has a braai, bin and water point. The ablutions are lovely and clean.

There is also electric power.

The camp does have a low electric fence around it and on one of the days we had an elephant looking over the fence.

There are monkeys, so just be aware of that.

Loved our time at Mazhou!

Jabula Bush Camp, located in the Dinokeng Game Reserve, is a really lovely campsite.

Its unfenced and has no electricity. Bring along your solar panel.

But the ablution does have solar lighting. In addition, it has a lovely shower (hot water from a gas geyser) as well as a flush toilet. There is also a super outdoor shower. The fire/braai pit is nice and big.

The sites are far apart, so you don’t see or hear your neighbours.

We really enjoyed our time at Jabula. Lovely!!
