Lefokeng Bush Camp is fenced, but situated within the Dinokeng Game Reserve. No grass (but super clean and raked earth), but each site has a lovely braai and fire pit.

Some sites offer a fantastic private ablution while others make use of the amazing communal ablution facilities. There is a super swimming pool as well as a space where you can purchase wood and ice. Electric power is provided at each site as well.

Fantastic  - get the bush feeling!!

This bush camp is stunning !
Located just outside of Dinokeng Game Reserve in Gauteng, it's close to Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The campsite is lush with trees, and it's on a game farm with many animals roaming around. It has a lovely swimming pool and a small honesty shop for ice, wood and ice-creams. The ablutions, all private for each site are really nice. They offer electric power, braai as well as a fire pit. Some of the campsites even have their own plunge poos, which can be heated via a pool donkey boiler.
Really lovely !!

If you visiting Baviaanskloof, then the Doringkloof 4x4 bush camp is a must !!

A stunning campsite, with green grass, a swimming pool, electric power, nice braai and fire pits and plenty of space. Buit, be aware that you need to cross a river to get to the campsite. In the dry season the crossing is easy, but you will need to check after any rain.

There is also a dam and they have many 4x4 routes that can be driver - check with reception.

Nice and quiet.
Eagles Nest is on the road between Bela-Bela and Thabazimbi.
Really nice !

Playground
Lovely kiddies playground. A trampoline, swings, slides and more!

Toilets
Private ablutions for each site. Really nice shower, flush toilet, hand basin and wash up facilities for each site.

Nthakeni Bush and River Camp - Campsite Review

  • Nthakeni Bush & River Camp
  • Private Ablutions
  • Limpopo Province
  • South Africa

Date Visited : June 2023

Here is a superb campsite with private ablutions, just outside of the Kruger National Park, at the Pafuri Gate.

This campsite has really nice big stands, lovely private ablutions (hot water from a donkey boiler) and it’s located on the banks of the river. It also has a swimming pool, small shop as well as a restaurant (you need to pre book). They sell firewood as well and have a nice boma with lounge seating to relax in. There is no electricity so you should have a solar setup to keep the fridge running (especially in the hot summer months)

We really enjoyed our stay here.

TSENDZE RUSTIC CAMPSITE - Campsite Review

Tsendze Rustic Campsite - Campsite review

  • Tsendze Rustic Campsite
  • Kruger National Park
  • South Africa
Date Visited : March 2021

This campsite is situated within the Kruger National Park, in South Africa. It's a fantastic campsite. It's termed a rustic campsite because there is no electricity, no shop and there are no chalets. It's just an amazing campsite. The campsite is fenced, but when you leave or return you have to open and close the gate yourself. There are ablutions, a section where you can cook on gas powered cookers as well as a dish washing section.

You have various routes from Johannesburg, as depicted below :

And the campsite is situated near a river (but unfortunately you cannot see the river from the campsite):

What we like about this campsite:

  • Situated within the Kruger National Park
  • Rustic (no noise from shops, chalets etc)
  • No power (so its generally quieter)
  • Lovely ablutions (hot water form gas)
  • Plenty of trees
  • Owels frequent the trees and you can view a few of these
  • The froendle manager and his wife
  • Just the pure bush feel
What we did not like about this campsite:
  • Absolutly nothing

KYLEU BUSH CAMP - Campsite Review

KYLEU BUSH CAMP - Campsite Review

  • Kyelu Bush Camp
  • Dinokeng Game Reserve
  • Gauteng
  • South Africa
Date Visited : March 2021

One of our favourite campsites !

Kyleu Bush Camp is situated withing the Dinokeng Game Reserve in Gauteng South Africa. It had both fenced and unfenced campsites with private ablutions as well as off-grid campsites with no facilities.

There is no power at the sites so you need to have solar to keep your fridge running and the lights on at night.

What we liked about Kyleu:

  • Lovely private ablutions with hot water from gas
  • The unfenced feeling of the African wilderness
  • Stands are far enough apart so mit feels like you almost alone in the bush
  • The animals passing through
  • Free standing braai (that you can move around)
  • Fire pit
What we did not like about Kyleu:
  • Can sometimes hear the noise from the tounship (even though it's outside the park). Although this is not really a problem as it's quiet during the week, but on weekends can possibly be a rumble in the jungle. Not bad, though.
