Manyane Resort - Pilanesberg National Park - Campsite Review

Manyane Resort - Pilanesberg National Park - Campsite Review

  • Manyane
  • Pilanesberg
  • Game Reserve
  • North West
  • South Africa
Visited: February 2022

Manyane Campsite is situated just outside the gate (but within the boundaries) of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. This is quiet a big resort with campsites as well as chalets.

The campsites are demarcated and have a braai, as well as electricity, a bin and a water point.

The resort has really deteriorated in recent years and the facilities are very old. Sometimes there is no hot water and over weekends there is sometimes noise from the nearby residential areas.

There is no fuel in the park, but there are a few fuel stations near the entrance.

In recent years the buildings at reception, including the shop, restaurant etc burned down and when we last visited, they were still not repaired.

But, all, in all, it's still a nice place to visit. The game viewing is good and you have a great chance of seeing the big 5.

We love visiting Pilanesberg !

Manyane - Pilanesberg National Park - Campsite Review

  • Manyane Resort
  • Pilanesberg Game Reserve
  • North West Province
  • South Africa

This resort is situated within the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, just north of Rustenberg in the North West Province of South Africa. Its lovey that it is located in a big 5 game reserve and in close proximity to Johannesburg and Pretoria. You are almost guaranteed of seeing many wildlife species in your self drive game drives.
The campsite is looking very old and the maintenance is really lacking. But, it's still a nice getaway.
We started camping at Manyane in the mid 80's (1984) and have seen the campsite at its best when it was really well kept. But in recent years the campsite has been deteriorating each time we have camped there.

What we liked about this campsite:
  • In a game reserve
  • Quiet during the week, out of holiday season
  • The bush feeling
What we did not like :
  • No hot water - geysers broken (on 2 camping trips!)
  • Broken shower heads
  • Broken and bent dish washing stands
  • Roads in the camposite not kept clean (full of sand and grass)
  • The power point boxes broken (but they still worked)
  • The general lack of maintenance and care.
