Other travels that we have been on (3)

Cradock and Port Elizabeth

We decided to combine a visit to the Mountain Zebra park, in Cradock, with the trip to Port Elizabeth.
We took the rang Rover v8 (old shape) and the off road trailer.
At Cradock we decided to do some of their 4x4 trails. They are good and wont damage the vehicle. We enjoyed the time camping there.
We stopped off at the Gariep dam on the way down.
the chalet at the Garipe Dam resort. These are very good. hey have some larger double story ones as well, which can accommodate 8 people.
Above is our campsite at the Cradock Mountain Zebra National Park. The camp was good and the ablutions acceptable.
the have 3 4x4 trails in the park. We tackles two of them without any problem.
This little fellow came to visit often.

Then onto PE
We camped at Pine Lodge just past Summerstrand, in Port Elizabeth. This is a very good park and we had no problems at all.
Above is our campsite at Pine Lodge, we had both the trailer tent as well as the dome tent and extension.
Below is the very nice pool area at Pine Lodge.

From the campsite you cannot see the sea. However you can hear it. There is this very neat walkway which takes you over the sand dune and directly onto the beach.

Just off the walkway and onto the beach.
Its a very nice beach to amble along. Its not really swimming beach. These you will find at Hobie beach and Kings beach, not too far away.
We went to a restaurant out at Seaview, called Barnacles. very good and you get an amazing view of the sea.
On the PE beachfront they have built wooden walkways. Its very nice and makes it very easy to walk along the seaside.

Every Easter, PE put on what they call the Splash festival.
There are beach volleyball tournaments, lifesaving competitions as well as many stalls. Its normally a nice atmosphere.

View of Summerstrand from the Pier.
View looking from the end of the pier towards the yacht house.
